works well with my other lenes. Light and goes well with my Z6.
I'm an experienced user of Nikon D850, D800 and D700, and expected the Nikon Z7 to work as dependably and converniently, but for me it doesn't. I think it is so anxious to provide special capabilities that it forgot to do the basics dependably. I'm used to shooting in P with the D850, D800 and D700, and have the point of focus dependably remaining in place (rather than wandering around off to the side, if at all) that I am stuck with using the automatic setting. Here it works quite well--is quiet and lightweight, and produces a good image. I like to use it in a meeting where I want to be unintrusive.
My Z7 review: went from a D810 to a Z7 a couple weeks ago. Wow, what a sweet camera. The FTZ is great but wish it had a AF motor. 🙄 couldn't care less about it not having 2 slots, I'm not a pro. Besides, snap bridge moves every shot to my phone automatically. 200GB backup in the phone... I'm still amazed by how much better the camera is in pretty much every way. I'm in love, and I'm usually super picky and critical of my gear. I'm hopeful there will be a new FTZ with a motor soon. Either way, this thing is AMAZING. The end.
This is a great camera. It allows you to take awesome photos, or switch to video and take outstanding videos. It’s all-in-one and does everything pretty well. I use it mostly for landscape photography, and the image quality is outstanding. The wide ISO range allows great photography in full daylight as well as night photographs. Use the long exposure and low noise capability of the sensor to capture star trails and moon-lit objects. You can do whatever you want with this camera...
Crazy good photos. Light and small. The 35mm 1.8 lens is mental when it comes to low light shooting. I’ve never had a prime lens before but now I know why people buy them, the speed from the 35mm is just amazing, the background blur is outstanding. I’ve shot a lot indoors without flash which I’ve never been able to do before without ISO dialed up to the point of just grainy shots. The 24-70 isn’t as long as the old lens but is is excellent as a carry around lens. The new QXD cards are super fast and hold 1000+ images in RAW.
Its single focus is very good. However, the ability of continuous focusing is not strong. The ability of face recognition is poor, and only wide area focus can use facial recognition function. It is hoped that Nikon will be able to apply facial recognition to all modes in the future. The facial recognition is weakest than Sony A7R 2 & 3. However, the price is higher than Sony.
