Coming from the F mount system I can honestly say that the built quality follow the Nikon tradition for near perfection. No complaints or regrets.
I like the lens but it blocks a large portion of the AF assist light even without the hood! Nikon, why would you place the AF assist light in a position where one of your first native Z-mount lenses would block it? Why? Please come up with a way to add an AF assist light such as on a flash. I really hope your next flash will have an AF assist light that works with the Zs and uses lithium ion batteries. I wanted to stop using AA batteries 15 years ago!
I was amazed at the quality of the pictures. Sharpness is top notch till F16. At F22, diffraction takes a bite out of the sharpness, but who uses f22! Near distortion free. Amazing build quality. Not overtly big like the f mount version. Just the perfect lens for your everyday needs if you are a pro.
This is a great lens. I have the 24-70mm f2.8 VR for DSLR and this z lens is more sharper than the DSLR version (even corners). I was thinking of just using my DSLR 24-70 mm lens w the FTZ adaptor but This Z lens is a keeper. I did some comparisons between this 24-70mm and the z 24mm 1.8 and this lens is sharper at the edges at 5.6 and 8. Center and off center sharpness are similar between this lens and the 24mm 1.8 at 5.6 and 8 (24mm is slight better but not buy much). I am using this with my z5. I like to spend money on lens rather than an expensive body. 24mpx is more than enough for me and I don't shoot action and sports that much (I can switch to my DSLR).
The only dislike might be the cost. But if you want quality you have to pay for it, and it is a quality pro lens. I use a wrist strap on my Z7ii and this lens feels great. It is light and well balanced. Fast focus, crisp clear pictures, very little post processing needed. Street, and landscape photography, have been my first 2,000 compositions.
This lens has the quality of a prime lens, but with zoom. It is the best zoom I have ever used. Excellent autofocus, excellent construction. Is it worth the investment.
Superb image quality (sharpness, color), precise, fast and silent autofocus, very well built. Nikon Z6.2. I also got a fantastic Nikkor Z MC 105 S F2.8 and a great Nikkor AF-S 17-35 mm F2.8 (400K + photos).
Top per professionisti de Settore, costa tanto ma la qualità è altissima! Con la nikon Z6II è una meraviglia
Could only get kit D7ii & f4 version of this lens when I purchased, out of stock everywhere. Kept my D810 as unsure of kit lens but results were super and finally decided to sell D810 & lenses to purchase this Z24-70mm f/2.8 - no regrets ! Fantastic lens, not taken many shots yet as weather awful but the ones I have taken are excellent .
Great Nikon lens fast and sharp with great Bokeh
