A real work horse, great for many photography purposes!
I have been watching this for a while, so when Amazon offered a 5 month payment period, I clicked on Buy. The very first day I took this crow image and was incredibly impressed with the speed and clarity. I am going to pair it with a 2X converter which will only drop it to F5.6 and be so much lighter than my current 200-500.
The zoom range might not match the 14-30 (which I miss after selling mine) but the focus speed, picture quality on the edges and better distortion control makes up for this. I am a little concerned about the front of the lens (too big for a standard protector filter) so I always pack it away with the lens cap on. Simply the best wide angle zoom for Nikon Z.....until they decide to bring out a 17-35 2.8 - that would be the one I'd go for.
I've used the 24-70 2.8 (non VR) with D700 and the Z6 ( with FTZ adapter). The Z mount version is a brilliant lens. It makes the whole Z system come alive. The AF is lightning fast. Image quality is better (although the F mount version ain't a slouch). However, there's a night and day difference when it comes to video. The F mount version has a loud AF motor. It makes the AFF mode practically useless. The Z mount lens has a near silent AF mechanism. I use the AFF during videos. The audio quality is more than acceptable for a bully in mic using this lens. The main problem would be the price. I cannot imagine it is an easy decision to pay so much for this. I have to admit this lens is a brilliantly engineered piece of technology. In short, a must buy to fully enjoy Z system.
If you are debating spending the money on a pro lens for your Nikon Z camera, this is the first one I would suggest you get. It is amazing, super sharp, fast, and weather sealed. Just look on Youtube for the reviews and you will understand why this lens is a must-have, regardless of the price. I love it!
Fantastic lens. Expensive however very good quality. I must say Amazon were fantastic my first lens got taken from the front door. I got a replacement quickly. I was amazed that a $3000+ lens would be left at the door. But when the new one arrived, I could not be happie
This is the best mid-range zoom I've ever used for a few reasons. Firstly, it's ultra sharp at all focal lengths. Secondly, the function ring allows me to quickly change exposure or aperture during a shoot without fiddling with dials. Thirdly, it's lighter and smaller than the F-Mount 24-70 by a decent margin. The only thing holding this lens back is it's price, but really, it's not hard to justify when you consider that you're getting prime-lens quality throughout the focal length.
This lens is a Nikon Professional Lens of the highest calibre. It's beautiful to use, and it's sharpness is utterly outstanding right across the image, and including the corners. Coupled with a Nikon Z7 11 camera body, the tonal quality and the tack sharpness are breathtaking. I'm so thrilled with it.
This is hands down one the best lens I ever used . Nikon did something right with this lens . Its great for low light and just in general for everything , it makes shooting so much more pleasing , definitely invest in one for Z series . Good job Nikon .
This lens is a fantastic quality lens. I came back to the "Nikon Land" just because of this lens. I never could find a better option! It is light weight, it can take filters and the image quality is second to none!

My main private event workhorse is my sigma 50mm, but I needed something that kept me discreet at receptions and parts where I didn't want to obstruct the guests. I was impressed with it, the colors in my photos are so true to life, and everything looks really sharp.
