Well, I'm in love with this lens. Compression, image quality, CA, sharpness, contrast - all of it is on point. It's well built, balanced, feels solid, has a nicer "whiter" finish than it's predecessor, takes a 77mm filter, comes with lens hood (as I think all lenses should) - and did I mention this thing takes some seriously crispy photos? I dabble in portraiture, but I'm way more into nightscape/landscape photography, and let me tell you this lens is now used more than the 24-70 or the 85mm. Simply put, if you have the spare cash and want a phenomenal tele, get this lens and thank yourself later. Pat yourself on the back, you made a sound investment.
I regret nothing about dropping a couple grand on this hefty piece of glass.
Outstanding lens. I am a staff writer/photographer for a small newspaper. This lens is great for concerts and outdoor shots as well as getting zoom-ins indoors. I use it with a Canon 5Ds body.
I recently bought this after having first bought the version without image stabilization. I thought it would be worth the savings, but I found that at least half of the photos I took were too blurry so it ended staying in my bag. I upgraded to this lens and have been so glad I did. I recently took photos at a concert where the lighting was terrible. This lens came through like a champ.
Almost all of my photos were tack sharp and I was able to get some amazing close ups. The bokeh is incredible. It was worth the extra money to get image stabilization. I just wish I had bought it first and skipped the 70-200 without the IS.
This is an awesome focal length range for outdoor photography. I use this lens for portraits as well as a close up lens for different events. The fact that it stops down to 2.8 has been extremely helpful in dark rooms and has given me that extra room to get a good exposure. The shallow depth that I'm able to get on this lens has been beautiful. Definitely a staple of my kit. I also use it with adapters on all my camera bodies. Great lens.
This is a very versatile zoom lens. The range of 70 to 200 mm on a full frame sensor covers a vast array of photographic situations.
The f:/2.8 aperture allows great photos in low light. The lens exhibits almost no defects in its entire range of zoom and aperture settings. It quickly became one of my favorite lenses.
This is a nice lens. The bokeh is beautiful on portraits. I owned the tamron 70-200 2.8 g2, and this lens is better in my opinion. Focus is fast. However the price is still high and if that is hard to justify then go with the tamron g2. The tamron was also a good lens and less expensive.
Serious hardware, my go to lens for my 90D. the f/2.8 so wonderful. you will think its to dark for a photo and wow it's really not. little pricey, but love it. shooting hummingbirds at 1/2000th is perfect.
