Not a camera expert, but in the time I have owned this camera, the uses have been very easy to learn and set up. The auto focus in recording video or taking photos is the best selling point in my opinion since it does so much of the work for you. Battery life is not great, so buying multiple of them so you can change them out is probably more necessary than anyone would like.
I had been looking to upgrade my camera for quite a while. After doing plenty of research, this camera was exactly what I was looking for. After using it for a year, this camera is still working perfectly. I would definitely recommend!
The a6400 is an amazing b-camera (secondary camera). I use it for a 2nd or 3rd angle when filming. The 4K 8-bit image you get is excellent. Find a good angle, set the camera up, and forget it. There is no recording time limit and the autofocus is fantastic. If you want to use manual focus, buy a small monitor and you're set. Yes, there are other cameras that are slightly better. But for this price ? No, and their benefits will probably not be worth the 2-5x price tags they command.
I bought the a6000 three years ago, when I decided it was time to move to the next level and go mirrorless. Recently I upgraded to the a6400, a camera I've been wanting a long time. There is no in-camera IS, but pretty much every lens you can buy for this e-mount camera has OSS (Optical Steady Shot), so you won't miss it. I've been getting terrific low-light shots with good detail (do yourself a favor and purchase Topaz DeNoise AI, which is the best noise-reducing program available). I almost always shoot handheld, because dragging a tripod around is not high on my list when taking photographs. :) I've had little difficulty getting good pics. This is a wonderful camera. I'm so glad I got it! I'm a wildlife photographer for the most part, and the Animal Eye AF (autofocus) is amazing
I purchased this camera exclusively for filming 4k video. My wife and I produce educational videos and wanted to utilize a green screen for more dynamic, interactive video that will ultimately be 1080p. Except for the crop that happens when switching to 4k, this camera has been a HUGE upgrade over using an iPhone. Between the color, picture quality, fast autofocus, excellent internal audio processing (we use a lapel mic directly into it, saving a ton of time over when I used my Zoom H6), I can't speak more highly of it. Minor points off for the 4k crop, and it also looks like I can't use face tracking while filming 4k with an automatic in camera proxies, but otherwise a slam dunk.
I heard so much about this camera, the good reviews on here made me desire this camera but it was very disappointing when I finally got it. Maybe was just me but it’s not a big deal, áudio and video quality are not that great, very difficult settings. The design is pretty and pictures quality is very gooD.
I have so much to say about this camera. I will try to keep it short. • I hate the color coming straight out of the camera. (Greenish and off) My Canon is superior. • 10 different picture profile with unlimited options include flat profiles. Almost too many! • Low light video quality is great. The best under a thousand dollars. • Auto focus is amazing • Size and weight is life changing for travel. • Not easy to use. Still trying to figure it out 7 months later. • Touch screen sucks, except for touch focus. • Rolling shutter is TERRIBLE in 4k. • 4k is great if the camera and subject is perfectly still. But the rolling shutter is jello pudding. • No headphone jack but the audio level do help.
I chose this over a6600 and I'm very happy I am a Sony Camera fan. I had been using A7 series but (since I do real estate photography) I wanted something smaller, more compact (even with lenses) and that I could easily get (hand-held), low to the floor/ground and not have to use a stabilizer (I have a Ronin-S) or tripod for still imagery.. Image quality is excellent, even on Auto and Programed Mode but it's also easy to use manual exposure for even more control. The functions and programed features make this even easier to use, letting one "focus" (pun intended) on the IMAGE and not being distracted by changing setting. I bought a SEL1018 lens to go with this and will be looking for a longer zoom lens (SONY ONLY) as well.
Perfect mid point camera for content, photography, and shooting videos
Great product
