I already had a Sony a6500 that I use for general photography and family portraits. I wanted a second body as a backup. For weeks I fretted over the a6400 or not based on the lack of image stabilization. I need not have been concerned. I have six lenses. Three of them are stabilized but two of them are not my best lenses. The other three are obviously not stabilized, and the Sigma 56mm F1.4 is by far my sharpest lens for portrait work. That was where my concerns were. But it turns out I can shoot hand-held at least down to 1/60 and it is quite rare for me to require that slow a shutter for this lens because the lens is so "fast". I've now been using only the a6400 daily for a few weeks and I simply have not run into any issues that would have been better if the camera had IBIS. As for positives of the a6400... The main attraction of the Sony a6400 is the superior focus system, including subject tracking. And it does indeed work very well. I took quite a few shots of my 9 year old son playing Laser-Tag last week where he was on the move. The tracking kept him in focus as long as I had the camera locked on his face before he started to move. Most of those shots were 50 to 80 feet away from me which is extraordinary. Aside from the superior focus system the A6400 has all of the features and benefits of the entire a6xxx series, except for IBIS. These cameras are small and light but mighty. They are rich with features and the available range of lenses is extensive. Image quality is superb.
Really happy with all the features the camera comes with, specially for the price. Its a great camera, if you pair it with the right lens' you get amazing photos!
Just love this camera! Was choosing between Panasonic GH5 and Sony a6400. It does very good photos on AUTO!
Pros: Fantastic camera. World leading autofocus. Great features. Cons: menu can be confusing
This is by far my greatest cam, I love it very much and does amazing job. 10 Stars...
The a6400 is still a great crop-sensor camera to have. I ordered a renewed model and it looks and works like new. Great value.
So far, I like everything about it. Very pleased with my choice.
Hooking this camera up to my PC with an Elgato CamLink 4K made this my perfect camera for my YouTube shows. The autofocus is fast and accurate, and the picture quality is awesome! It does NOT have built in image stabilization, but since I use it on a tripod, that is not a problem for me. (Most Sony lenses DO have internal stabilization, however.) I like the updated a6400 Sony menus, much better than the old ones on the Sony a5100 I had before this.
Excellent camera for a moderately experienced photographer. I upgraded to this body from an a3000, and have been very pleased with the results. The improvements in autofocus is a game changer, especially for event photography (like weddings) where a split second of autofocus time can mean the difference between getting a crucial shot or missing it completely. I have already shot a wedding with this camera, and ended up with very few out-of-focus shots. The display is gorgeous, sharp, and bright, and the ability to articulate it in so many directions and angles is much appreciated for low shots or high shots. And while it is disappointing that the touch screen can only be used for focusing, this feature is still incredibly helpful in cases where the autofocus wants to focus on the wrong thing. All of the extra items thrown into the package by this seller are quality items, and a very nice bonus. I would definitely recommend this kit, especially if you already own E-mount lenses to use with the body.
