There's a lot of reviewers on the 'Tube who have been talking down to Nikon for its mirrorless efforts, but the fact of the matter is, Nikon is doing a great job in its first generation of full frame mirrorless. The Z5 (for me), Z6II, and Z7II (both unreleased at the time of this review), have everything we need. There's no reason to jump ship to another brand now. IBIS and Eye autofocus are all onboard the Nikon mirrorless cameras.
Don't get caught up in the reviews (especially outdated ones) that make it seem like everyone buying cameras is a professional wedding photographer who needs 4k video 100% of the time in one hand while photographing birds, wildlife, and sports at 20fps in the other hand, all at the same time. If that's not you, do you care if you have one card slot, or can't record in uncropped 4k? All we need is a little perspective. Find the right camera for you and go have fun.
For Nikon stills shooter the ONLY thing missing from this camera is the pop up flash... The OLED viewfinder is just wonderful...Auto focus very quick and accurate..Love the AF joystick In body and lens stabilization have allowed me to shoot handheld with low shutter speeds Have run auto ISO to 6400, with no noise that I could see...Rated 8X that.
I have shot humming birds a 1/6000 Thought I would miss the top plate display, but the i button gives much more info... Took about 50 shots to get used to it...And then the ability to quick change all settings from the i screen Touchscreen by far the most responsive of any camera I have used. Dual SD card slots for me are a must have, luckily this bundle comes with 2 SD Cards
Sale price was less than you can purchase a new D750 today...Wonderful upgrade from the D750 in every way except the flash. Very long way from the D7000. The focus motor on my 24-120 lens on the D750 went out....Justified new buy vs repair...
Good for stills, portraits, landscapes and Architecture.
A superb choice and bargain for serious lovers of photographs having a wide range of skills who just don’t want their camera to get in the way, from auto to highly adjusted features. Hey, this one actually extends and enhances your possibilities. Exceptionally strong lenses, autofocus, exposure control, low light capabilities, good video, and great Nikon feel.
The Z5 is a similarly gifted but poorer member of the family, this little sister lacks some refinements and rare capabilities of its supposedly more capable ‘siblings’ Z6, 6ii, 7, and 7ii.
Forget after market flashes or off camera triggers. Nothing but the listed flashes will work. Seems they put flash controls in camera. Just another reason I’m keeping my D4 and D850. I will use the z5 as my travel camera, or vacation camera. If your looking at any of the Z cameras, pay attention to what flashes will work. Nikon kept the F mount for their lenses for years, know matter what dslr you bought from Nikon their lenses would work, So would after market flashes/triggers. Not saying the flashes won’t fire, you just have to set power manually.
Outstanding color rendition. Great in camera jpg, even better raw. 2 full sized SD slots! Can accept ENEL15 batteries that have been around for about 10 years. When the AF works properly, this camera produces excellent images (
