I am not a DSLR expert but my time with this camera in the week I have had it has been amazing. I know the pro/con list below seems a little one sided but so far that has been my experience. I have had a hard time finding negatives with this camera. Pros: -If you want a lightweight camera for your hikes or travels, this is perfect as it only weighs 1.3 lbs. My last DSLR was over 2.5 lbs. -The images are so sharp and clean, it’s hard to grasp how far technology has come. Coming from an older DSLR and a smart phone camera, there is not even a comparison. -Battery life is fantastic. I have not had to recharge it yet and so far have taken 254 pictures. -Dual SD cards is fantastic. I remember having to swap them constantly on my old DSLR. Cons: -If you are thinking about getting this camera mainly for HD video, you may want to look elsewhere. While the camera can shoot 4k 30p, the camera has to crop the video to achieve this. This is not a deal breaker for me but may be for someone like a wedding videographer.
I absolutely love this camera. It is fantastic and a huge upgrade over my previous DSLR.
This is my beloved wife's Christmas gift I am literally wowed by the camera and the photos. Coming from the a d3400 world, this takes really astounding pictures. I use a 50mm and a sigma 24-70 with an FTZ adapter which makes this pretty hefty during travels. There are pictures where I have taken where the persons face (mostly my kid) standing with the sun behind him ( around the 11 am sunlight ). This is an entry level camera but it's packed with so much features for an hobbyist or an enthusiastist.
If you are not into wildlife or fast action photography or a serious videographer but just want to take photos in the full frame world then this camera is just right
This review is for Z 5 w/NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 This is a very good camera there is lots of learning to get out the best from this machine, especially if you are new to these types of cameras. The best part of this model is the ability to use dual SD cards which is great If you are taking long videos, like weddings or some other special events or If you are into 4K, it is really helpful.
The picture quality is very nice crystal clear and the images are very sharp but it all depends on how to use the correct setting for the application.
There is nothing quite like a full frame camera. Normally I have found full-frame cameras to be bulky and difficult to freely transport, but this is not the case with the Z-5. It is small, compact, and very dense with features and top-of-the-line specifications. The interface is quite intuitive and easy to navigate. The mobile app works decently, even though my preference is a direct import to PC. The dual SD card feature is perfect for long periods of time away from an upload point (pc or mobile) , and the battery also lasts a surprisingly long time. All in all, a solid camera for entry level to professional users.
Well that depends. Lack of BSI sensor really doesn't matter much at most common ISO values in FF cameras. Anyone who thinks that's a reason to spend more money probably doesn't understand how BSI sensors work. Secondly, video capabilities. It may or may not matter to you. If you are a photographer who seldom to never shoot video, why would you pay extra for that?. The Z5 is an amazing value for many people looking for a FF for stills. Use the price difference and invest in glass instead
The Z5 and all pieces of the bundle arrived on time and in great condition.
