This camera is the best. There is nothing to say negative about it. The 24-200 zoom is unbelievable. I am so glad that I bought it.

Awesome camera so far
Perfect!!! Just what I needed.
Great
Nikon is behind in the mirrorless camera game compared to Sony. I own several Nikon DSLR and a slew of Nikon lenses before moving onto Sony's A7 and A7iii. Now that Nikon has their own mirrorless cameras, it is difficult to decide whether to stay with Sony or change back to Nikon. Nikon Z5 is the second lowest budget camera in the Nikon Z lineup. It's a superb quality camera for anyone looking for something lighter and smaller than a full DSLR. If this was available before Sony's A7 camera, I would have bought this in a heartbeat. It even has the option of adding a lens adapter so it can use Nikon F-mount lenses.
PROS: + 2 UHS-II SD card slots. Put in fast U3 speed SD cards in it for faster saves. Having two cards is great because one can be a backup of the other. + Much better and higher resolution electronic viewfinder (EVF) than the Sony A7iii. I can see better of my subject with this. + Good battery life with a EN-EL15c battery. I always get a second battery so I don't run out. + Stunning Nikon colors and clarity. Sony JPG photos are over-processed. I love the natural look of Nikon processing. Sure, I can shoot RAW but I don't have the time to process RAW photos anymore so I use JPG. + Same great Nikon ergonomics and user interface. The buttons, icons, and controls are all very familiar if you have used Nikon DSLRs before. COULD BE BETTER: - Only 4.5 FPS shooting speed but honestly enough for most people except for people shooting quick moving kids and sports. - No BSI (body stabilized image). Not a huge deal for photos but I prefer BSI for videos. - Limited video mode. 4K only goes up to 30p and 1080p goes to 60p. In addition, videos shoot in 1.7x cropped mode! A normal wide angle view will now become zoomed. I dislike this limitation a lot. It really constrains what you can do in video mode. If you shoot a lot of video, I would go with a Z6ii or a Z7ii. - Autofocus: mirrorless AF is not as good as traditional DSLRs and this Z5 is no exception. I found it slowish to focus and it has a hard time tracking quick moving people using people tracking. Comparably, my Sony A7iii is a champ at it. I would not use the Z5 for shooting sports but it's totally fine for portraits. The second AF caveat is a problem very common with other non-DSLR cameras. It has trouble auto focusing in low light situations such as at dinners or birthday celebrations.
I was excited to get this camera for I've been using DSLR's all my life and I've been really interested in the mirrorless evolution of cameras. I'm just an amateur photographer and have owned a Cannon EOS 60D for the past 10 years. When I first started shooting with the Nikon Z5 using full auto I was a bit disappointed the color was quite off and there was a lot of shadows, it was not able to get even close to what the eye can see. I quickly started playing with the settings and ended up at the end abandoning auto mode it just did not produce a good photo for my liking. I ended up setting on P Mode which you can adjust more settings like how metering is done. With this mode I was quickly able to adjust the lighting both in color and contrast to more closely represent what the eye sees and what the camera will take a snapshot of.
