EVF needs a menu option to control the time the EVF is active to the time it shuts off, once you pull your eye from the viewfinder. It takes about 250ms for the EVF to register an eye (or object) is near the viewfinder to the time it turns on the viewfinder. In most cases it is just a slight annoyance, but it can hinder some shots if you're an active shooter in a dynamic setting. Otherwise the IQ is great -- half stop improvement over my D750. The Buffer is deep. I paired it with the 3rd party grip that supports 3rd party batteries. Works well. Taking video through the viewfinder is such a wonderful experience over using the rear panel, especially in daylight.

This paired with the 50 f/1.8 S is such a solid, near-silent combo. I doubt I will ever go back to DSLR. To the point I sold my D750.

The dual SD card slot is great! Shoot in both raw and jpeg. The reach on the 24-200 lens is fantastic. It’s my first full frame and Mirrorless Nikon, having upgraded from my D3300. Still a long ways to go to get good pictures but I’m working on it!

would argue this is the best entry level full frame mirror less for the your money

I bought the Nikon Z5 for the soul reason for it to be my main body for weddings. I needed the dual cards. I already have the Nikon Z6 for the past 18 months and it's a phenomenal camera. But the Z5 is a cheaper version of it and the image quality is identical in my opinion. I cannot tell the difference in low light or high ISO up to 6500.

If you plan on shooting wildlife or Sports you're going to be disappointed and if you just dabble with video this Z5 will work just fine. But if you're a professional videographer or want to get into using 4K get the Z6. The autofocus works great. Which is been very good since the last firmware update for the z6 and that is the same firmware in the Nikon Z5. In my opinion this is not a beginner camera it's going to take professional portraits and you will love it

The Z5 has exceeded my expectations in virtually every way. It feels and shoots exactly like the Z6, but for a lower price, and with much lower cost and more readily available SD cards. I have not been able to tell a practical difference in image quality between this and the Z6, although the Z6 is a BSI sensor, so in theory it performs somewhat better in low light situations.

This is the perfect camera for me. BUT - I shoot pictures 99.9% of the time. If you are more of a hybrid picture/video shooter, the Z6 is a much better option because the Z5 has a heavy video crop.

Excellent in every way image quality brilliant Build tough . I have had it out for testing. In north Idaho and the great snowies. Matches or bests the fuji xt4 in every way.
