This camera is the low end for the Z series that is very good for Vlogging in the field, but I don't think it is a good streaming solution, as the cables block the screen, because the designers of this camera for some reason decided to put the screen flip and the cable connections on the same side. This almost cost a star, and if I could rate it 4.5 stars, I would. The picture quality is all Nikon. It has rich color and artifact free video. Low light is incredibly good.
The build quality is pretty good, except the battery door could have a tighter fit, and the rubber cover for the HDMI/USB ports takes some fiddling to get them to be totally flush. No image stabilization is a minus, so running this on a tripod will get you the best image quality.
This is the purpose built camera for video content creators from Nikon. I have the kit that comes with 2 lenses. 1x 50-250 mm lens and 1x 16-50 mm lens. The build quality is solid, typical of what you would expect of a Nikon DSLR. It has some weight to it. I've been using my GoPro for videos until I got the Z 30 and the usability and quality is a night and day difference and I've even tried using an iPhone X for a while. The real difference is being able to use standard accessories and transferring files. It is so much easier with the Z 30 to do these simple tasks. You can use either the Nikon Snapbridge app or just plug in the USB C cable or pull the memory card out. You can use any tripod or most tripods that have the quarter inch screw mount. You don't need any special proprietary housing or adapters. You are basically pointing and shooting and using any standard camera accessory.
The Nikon Z 30 is a fantastic camera. Highly recommended for anyone starting out as a video content creator or even as a professional. This is not a cheap product and doesn't feel that way so I think the price is justified and is a good value for what you get. This Z 30 has all the features I could want as a content creator.
This camera is fantastic. The built quality is excellent, and it's made of thick plastic. This camera is perfect for vlogging. It's super lightweight the fully articulated screen is great. Both the picture and video quality are excellent. I'm also streaming with the camera, which in my opinion has a better sensor and eye autofocus than my sony a6400., I purchased a dummy battery for continuous power, and it works great. Low light is also great at 12800 iso; it starts to look noisy above the 12800 iso.
You'll find most of my thoughts in the video. All in all if you are filming with a phone or something this would be a great next step for you. If you are mainly filming yourself this is a fantastic option. If you are filming other people it is still a good option. It is very light and I think the image quality is good. The eye autofocus has been very good so far. For photos you can shoot in RAW which is good and this camera is plenty to take your instagram to the next level but I wouldn't buy this to be a photo camera. It is really suited for video and specifically for filming yourself. You might think about about just getting the camera body and then getting a wider aperture wide prime lens and a wireless mic and that would be a really nice but affordable (relatively ha) setup for youtube, tiktok, small business, churches etc. This is also an awesome live streaming camera with the ability to use as a 1080 HD camera.
I do a lot of virtual meetings and I strive for the best video quality. I hate traditional webcams since they give the quality of a potato. I have used a Nikon D5500 to act as a virtual camera. However, despite giving it constant power using a dummy battery AC adaptor the camera would still shut off after its 30min max timer. It was annoying and disruptive. This camera solves my problem. I have paired it with the inexpensive 28mm F2.8 Z lens since it's not too wide and not too zoomed. A good balance. The autofocus is good. Keep in mind I do use an external capture card as an intermediary and use OBS software to enable the Z30 as a virtual cam that can be used on Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, etc. This is important to get the best quality.
This is the perfect webcam replacement when you set it up and you can capture high-quality video and images when you're on the go. Good stuff Nikon
The screen swivels so you can be behind the camera or in front of it. The screen is touch, so you can tell the camera where to focus. The audio levels are shown so you are aware if your audio is too low, lots of wind noise, etc. The quality of the camera is great. It is packed with features, and the lens will each come its own serial number. You'll need the SN to register the camera and it comes on a little certificate.
