The Nikon Z30 is made more or less for VLoggers and it shows. As I ran test on this bad boy I was able see how well it did without a viewfinder and it was tough as old habits die hard. I decided to test out some cinematography with it first, since that's what it boast. I'm no blogger or creator so I didn't make a video or share on on here. However the microphone picks up every thing. From birds chirping to helicopters above, it catches everything. So I found a setting that allows it to focus more on vocals and it was decent but it stood out more when I pulled out a shotgun mic. Now conversations/vocals came in clear with minimal added noise thanks to the vocal filter/setting. I kept the mic on normal didn't feel the need to increase sensitivity+10db or switch to low cut. So with a shotgun mic, audio is on point. As far video goes, they come in crisp and clean at 4K the 16-50mm lens with f/3.5 -6.3 vr it was a good lens for filming yourself and maybe even a guest on screen with you. The videos I played back on PC for some Post processing on Adobe premiere. Files were all on point.
I’m still putting this camera through its paces but I wanted to give a first impression. I’m teetering between 4 1/2 and five stars. That there are some concerns that can only be examined after using it for a while. I am here looking to go into a Nikon mirrorless and you are primarily a still photographer you’re still better off going with the larger Z 50. This is a cut down version made specifically for videographers though it will take excellent still pictures. The processor and image sensor and the two cameras are exactly the same. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to carry around this thing after shooting with 2 kg DSLR‘s for decades. It feels like I am holding a feather and yet my image quality is stunning.
This is the first mirror-less camera I have used. The Z30's tracking and auto focusing is perfect making shooting video a breeze. The overall size of the Z30 makes it great to use on the go and the flip out screen allows you to make sure you are in frame and focus at all times. This is a great camera all around.
I have been a loyal Canon user since the beginning of my photography and videography days about 15 years ago. I was hesitant to order this Nikon camera because it did seem like a beginner camera, and on top of that, it was a Nikon. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to see how well this camera performs. I recommend this product to anyone of any photography skillset level, as it is easy enough for beginners to use but well-performing enough to use as an intermediate or advanced photographer/videographer.
Extremely lightweight. This is beneficial for all users as the light weight means longer use without fatigue (especially for you influencers who hold the camera facing you for long periods of time).
Excellent picture quality Shoots up to 4K video It has a large image sensor Eye detect auto focus It's lightweight and compact The USB-C connection allows you to get constant power when shooting for longer periods of time It has a built-in stereo mic
I am a photographer. I replaced my Canon glass and full frame DLSR(s) shortly after realizing that Sony had a significant advantage early on with mirrorless cameras, fast and accurate focus, and fast FPS action photo abilities. I never delved into Nikon, and today, the Sony advantage has been narrowed, if not overtaken by Canon. One thing Sony did not have? A menu system that would allow a photographer to pick up the camera and start shooting without an extended learning curve. Canon was far ahead, and now, I realize Nikon has a great menu system, notably with the nicely functional touch screen. The Nikon grip is super comfortable and functional.
I admit to being more of a photographer than “a content creator”, which are those that shoot video for vlogs, YouTube, TicToc, etc. As a photographer, I have always enjoyed the concept of point and shoot cameras, and might suggest that the Z30 ticks some boxes. Compact and light, an acceptable and “almost pancake” kit lens (notably, superior to the kit lens Sony should never have provided with the a6000-6600 APS-C cameras -- Close looks at blown up images revealed Sony kit faults). The Nikon has fantastic out of the box automatic operation, and if you want to delve into a function? Just touch the screen on the function. Continuous shooting of 11 FPS is great.
The Nikon Z30 16-50mm Mirrorless Digital Camera Kit for Content Creators, Video Streaming, and Webcam with Flip Screen, 4K Video, Touchscreen Display, Stereo Microphone arrived. As it happens, I own a fine Nikon camera that I used to take pictures as I traveled for six months around Europe. Nikon makes quality cameras and equipment, and my own experience tells me that my new camera should serve me well.
I've using Nikon camera's exclusively and I recently bought the Z30. This is a very capable camera and performs really well.
Very good performance for the price, I love it.
