In every event I am looked on as a pro because we all know this camer is just at that level of pro. The end.
Obviously, there are more in-depth and qualified reviews of this product than I can count. So, just to sum up simple feedback from a "prosumer" like myself, if you're thinking about moving from a crop sensor Nikon (or any other brand for that matter) to full frame, you won't be disappointed. I owned a D7200 before this; it's like everything I appreciated in that APS-C has been enhanced in the D850. I wanted to photograph what I see, that was my primary reason for moving to full frame -- but I got so much more. This is the type of camera that makes you want to become a better photographer. Love it.
Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED Vibration Reduction Zoom Lens with Auto Focus for Nikon DSLR Cameras I love having the FX sensor. It is so nice to have the extra room in the image to frame things and crop down to what I really want in the image. I'm not used to the video stuff so I'm still fumbling with it a bit but I'm pretty impressed so far.
I did a ton of research between this and the Nikon Z7. I am not disappointed with my choice. The Z7 is an excellent camera, however for me, I like the feel of this body in my hands, especially with the bigger glass attached. The Z7 just didn't feel right. I also didn't want to have to replace all my glass or use an adapter. I'm not going to go into the technical aspects, as there are tons of reviews covering that. Just wanted to say if you're on the line between this and mirrorless, you won't be disappointed if you go with the D850!
I'm an amateur photographer, but I bought this in anticipation of the birth of my baby. I want to take her newborn photos and other photos as she is growing up without having to book studio sessions. This camera is amazing. I recommend that you get a tripod, it's pretty heavy and you need it to be still in order for the photos to be clear and without "noise." The iphone wifi sync feature is incredible-- you can see what the camera sees on your phone and control the shutter. My husband and I were easily able to take maternity style photos together. This camera is worth the price-- you'll get studio quality photos.
This camera is really amazing, its a monter!!!
I was running with a d610 and a D750 for a while and decided to upgrade to the d850 (can't afford a d5). I am so happy with the choice, the image quality and features of this camera are off the chart. It feels great in the hand, because it has a nice deep grip. The touch screen was done right, unlike my Sony A6500, this touch screen is full function, scrolling, zooming, selecting, etc. I also really like the auto fine-tune feature, which my past cameras didn't have talking about lens tuning made easy. I would love to have a mirrorless full frame version of this camera also. Nikon can you hear me, a mirrorless full frame camera with these features would be off the charts.
I Love My New D850 Everything that was lacking in my D800 has been addressed with this release. It will take time getting used to the touch screen. What a joy it is to go walking about with camera. Update: I have removed a star because of SnapBridge. Nikon will tell you that SnapBridge will help you connect to your iPhone, it will only do that in a very temporary and fragile period, then it will disconnect and you will not get back that connection without going through a huge setup process over and over again. SnapBridge in my opinion is lie. Nikon should be embarrassed by the poor quality of this app, there are thousands of other complaints backing me up on this.
now THIS is a camera! i absolutely love everything about it, though it has taken me some time to become accustom to after owning a beginner level dslr in an other brand. the quality of this camera is great.
i primarily shoot portrait and event photography and so far am super happy with it. using at a rock music show with terrible lighting inside a bar, ultra bright conditions with cold temps and snow glare, dark cloudy conditions, as well as sunset and bright sun has all produced wonderful photos! I highly recommend.
