Regarding image quality, I am very pleased. I absolutely love the new auto picture control (a definite upgrade). I am not known for shooting auto anything in general. But this auto picture control is awesome. It is because I got really nice tones on subjects that gave me tone problems in the past. I already know this camera will perform very well in low light and at night. At ISO 3200 (low gain), images will be cleaner. ISO performance is, indeed, an upgrade, no doubt about that! I do not mind the 21MP instead of 24MP. I can't tell the difference. I just started shooting with this camera. As time goes I will have an opportunity to get acquainted with its new features, like 4K video (another upgrade) . I look forward to this. So far I have been very impressed. There is always some adjustment period with a new camera as each camera is a bit different. But I can already tell it's going to serve me well. By the way, my photography is varied.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this camera. I have worked my way from a D5200 to a D7100 and now the D7500. I loved my D7100 but had an accident(my bad) hence I had to get a new camera. This feels very much like my D7100 which is great. I had over 100k shutter clicks on my d7100 and loved using but it had a huge issue with wildlife photography. Its horrible buffer! I still got plenty of great shots over the years I just had to plan really well and when to press the button. I did miss a few good shots due to a full buffer. The D7500 takes all the great qualities of the D7100 but makes it a beast for wildlife/sports. I have been testing it for the last 2 weeks very heavily(over 3000 shots so far). The 8 frames is awesome and I have yet to fill the 50 shot buffer(raw). Thats been a sigh of relief. The focus system is the same as the D7100 but I do feel it is a bit more responsive with fast moving birds. I have taken several shots to compare vs the D7100 since it has had a slight reduction in pixels.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND for anyone looking for a great all around camera that really shines when the action starts. Photos below are just a couple of what I got with my D7500 so far. Nikon 300mm af-s f4 prime, Sigma 17-50 f2.8
Some differences: 2 card slots (D7200) vs. 1 (D7500), 24mp (D7200) 20mp (D7500). Higher dynamic range with the D7200 vs higher low light capability in the D7500. Both cameras have the same number of focus points 51, and the same AF module as is found on their full frame sibling the D750. The processor is different with both cameras. The D7200 uses a DX sized Expeed 4 processor and the D7500 uses the same Expeed 5 processor as the D500. I own a D500 and have used a number of Nikons, including the D7200 and D7500. The D7200 to me, functions like a crop sensor version of one of my personal favorites, the D750. But the D7500 is a different camera It functions a little like a D500 and like a D7000-series camera too. It's almost exactly the same with regards to highlights as the D500 yet the the controls work almost exactly like the D7200. With the exeption of the ISO button moving to the same spot as the D500 and the frames per second bumping up to 8
it's a great camera. I have had the camera since July and like it a lot. It's fun to use and I would recommend it if you're looking for a new camera that has some pro features, but won't break the bank. And yes, I added the last picture from the studio of the D500 because I love it! Buy the camera, take great pictures, have fun!
I purchased this camera on a whim after reading about its low light capabilities. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT camera. Very fast. Not only is it good in low light but the images are very crisp. If you are not looking to go full frame or mirrorless, you will not be disappointed with the Nikon D7500. It has alot of what the D500 offers but at a better price. What I like most about the D7500 over the D500 is that it has a built in flash. Even though I do not like using the flash if I don't have to, at least it is there. I don't have to invest in more gear that will only fill up my camera bag.
Purchased my D7500 a couple days before Thanksgiving. Was playing around with all the different settings and found them, for the most part, to be easy to use. The main reason I purchased this camera was for the video capabilities - 1080p & 4k. The pop out screen on the back makes for easy video viewing and since I use the camera on a Neewer Camera Balancer while capturing video, along with my NIKKOR 18-300mm lens, everything looks amazing and smooth! With this lens set at 18mm, I must be careful not to get too close to my subject (stay back at least 4-5 feet) otherwise everything in the foreground will be slightly out of focus. I still need to try video capture at different lens lengths to see how they operate. The auto focus and auto exposure work very well in video mode while I am moving around. Still need to try the manual focus and exposure. This camera for me, is definitely an upgrade from my D7100 for many reasons.
I think, as in typical Nikon tradition and for the price point you will get a camera that is really fun to use and is amazing at capturing both video and still images! A+ on the Nikon D7500!!
This Camera is excellent for image quality outside of a full frame. Will do anything an expert photog is capable of. Put the right lenses on it and you’re in business. Anyone who says this camera isn’t excellent doesn’t know what they are doing. Can’t beat it for the $. Highly recommend the 18-300mm w/VR if you need a “do it all” lens.
