Camera has amazing sharp focuses. More focus points than m50. Weather resistant and quick to focus. Even though low level of its class, it’s worth it. It has a back focus button so you don’t have to keep the shutter button pressed half way and accidentally press it all the way.
Coming from older professional DSLRs(I've worked with 5D mark 3s and 4s) I had some concerns when it came to what I would be getting and if it would truly be "better" or just more of the same. I was blown away by the picture quality, if you're coming from a 5DM4 this may be a side grade or downgrade to you depending on what you prioritize(5DM4 30.4mp vs RP 26.2mp) but I'd rather have this 9/10 days. If you're coming from anything other than a 5DM4 you're in for a treat with all the new bells and whistles and I think there is no going back for professional work. If you've got the budget of course you should consider the higher offerings but none of them seemed worth the extra cost when compared
At first I had difficulty in getting full manual control in the time-lapse mode, but once I figured it out I was able to do long-exposure (8 to 30 second) time-lapses of constellations and stars (using the excellent inexpensive Meike 50 mm f/1.7 lens). I'm now waiting for an even shorter focal length lens (and good weather and moonless skies) to arrive to try milky-way time-lapses. Update: I got a second RP and had it astromodded. Still very happy with this camera especially the time-lapse feature though I wish I could afford the Canon f/1.2 50 mm to go with it.
I have a number of digital cameras and they all work well. The reason I bought the RP was because, with its larger cell size, the digital noise level in the low light areas of an image should be less. The digital noise in low light areas of an image is indeed less and I am pleased with the performance of the RP.
Lightweight with perfect ergonomics. Easy to use viewfinder that allows complete control via the multi-function button without your eye leaving the viewfinder. The tilt screen allows touch focus and shooting, my first camera with this capability. The camera HDR function produces stunning photos. The 24-105 STM lens that comes with the camera is tack sharp and the lens has IS that allows handheld shooting down to 1/15th of a second. The 75-300mm Lens on the other hand, offer a much better zoom and clarity. The remote camera operation via iPhone works flawlessly. An incredible value.
I upgraded from a Canon 80d. Wanted to try a full frame camera. Coming from a canon background the learning curve has not been too bad. I enjoy using the camera. As a stills camera it is wonderful. Better low light capability and higher iso is very nice. I don't care that much about video but for the casual family events I have shot it has been fine. I am waiting for the additional native r glass that is coming this year. With the adapter canon ef and ef-s glass works fine but I have found that third party lens are hit and miss. I have tried my Tampon 16-300 with poor results. Auto focus is poor. Chromatic aberration is unacceptable and it is totally unpredictable when a photo will work and when it will not. I still have my 80d but am having a hard time finding a reason to still use it. I think my daughter will like it.
Unless you’re a professional making over $100k a year doing sports or wildlife you do not need a better camera than this. I upgraded from my t3i and I absolutely love this thing
Very happy with this lens and camera. Lens is sharp. Very little post editing (if any) is required with photos straight out of camera!
I'm happy I made this purchase. I'm still a beginner but this camera make me look like a pro.
