Really loving this camera, and lens too (bought it as a kit, hadn't wanted the lens but didn't want to wait). Nice light weight combination and works great for travel, so glad I have the lens. Have other longer lenses for bird/wildlife photography & macro. Still a lot to learn about all it can do, but having tons of fun.
Moving from a Nikon D7200. While many things are the same, the Canon has many more settings. A bit of a learning curve. The most dramatic change is the in body stabilization. With age, handshake comes and this stabilization greatly helps reduce. I'm now able to shoot at 1/2 to 1/4 the former shutter speed !! And the 30 Mpex sensor is really nice as well as having less noise, I can have a default of twice the previous ISO - now using 6400 at the top for auto. I primarily use this as a travel camera and never change the lens - so far the results are better than I expected for this lens kit.
With just a month of use I can confidently say that the Canon R7 is a significant upgrade from my 7D Mark II. It is a complicated machine so the learning curve is fairly steep for those who want it set up just so. I continued to tweak my 7D Mark II over the five years I used it so I expect I'll be doing the same with the R7 and I feel each tweak will increase the effectiveness of the camera to take excellent bird photographs.
Moved from Nikon D7200 to the Canon R7 and what an amazing improvement, especially with the in body stabilization. Age is not kind to shake of hands, but this system has greatly improved my ability to shoot at show shutter speeds again!
Still learning to use the camera, but the eye auto focus and subject tracking auto focus is great. Works very good for perched birds and birds in flight. Glad I bought it.
I am amazed by this camera, have been planning on switching over to a mirrorless for a long time. After much research I decided to go with the Canon, and this one fit my needs. So very happy I did. Taking me awhile to get used to the change but absolutely loving it. The photos are crystal clear and just love everything about. I do recommend it.
This is my #2 camera, backup for my R5. It is exactly what I wanted and then some. Shares lens mount, batteries, color space, and most of the menu system. Oh, and Canon dropped the 30 minute video limit when I want to record long clips. Auto focus is as good as the R5 but in a crop sensor, which is actually nice for birds and animals.
It's difficult to rate at this point, because I don't actually have it. I only used it for 2 weeks. I had to send it in with my new 100-400 lens. It was determined that it was the lens causing the the problem. But when it actually did work--I loved it!! I'm hoping to get it back soon.
Canon R7 is Definitely the King of the Crop ( aps-c ) mirrorless cameras, for Incredible low price of $ 1,500 offers a Magnesium Alloy body and amazingly fast autofocus which includes Tracking technology derived from the R3 .. I purchased R7 from B&H after renting a R7 for 7 days , so having 2 samples of this camera from 2 different release dates I can honestly say that this is an Amazing piece of technology for the price .. this is Not an R3 , R5 etc.. and the price Reflects that .. for $ 1,500 this is the KING of the CROP .. this is an Excellent choice for Beginner, or first mirrorless camera , or as a backup or second camera for an Enthusiast level photographer .. R7 is perfect size for a small to medium hand size male or female .. and is very easy to set up and use .. offers excellent color/saturation and very sharp focus .. works great in low light
