The best choice for a first full frame mirrorless purchase. Unless you heavily crop on a regular basis, the 20 megapixel sensor is great for almost any type of photography. The body feels great in the hand, and its pretty hard to miss a shot with the sticky autofocus.
It's been almost 2 decades since I actually bought a SLR style camera. I've bought a couple of Canon G9 style models along the way, but my last DSLR was the Canon D60. Yes the D60, not the 60D. I have borrowed a 20D and 5D, 5D Mark III cameras, but it was good getting a new one of my own. And what a difference there is between the new R6 and the previous cameras I bought. Absolutely love the R6. I had the intention of using it for both photos and videos, but I recently learned the video recording length is hard limited to 29 minutes and 59 seconds. My videos can be upwards of 75 minutes, so this would be my only complaint about the camera.
I’m a amateur photographer. The r6 was my very first camera purchase. It was really easy to use and I felt really comfortable with it. Unfortunately I had to return it. When I purchased the camera I also purchased the insurance from a second party company asurion. It said I would receive my insurance by email within three days that I receive the camera. I received the camera three days later no insurance email. I reached out to asurion two times. I did not get any reply. I waited about a month and decided to return the camera. A few days after I returned the camera the insurance came in by post office mail. Now I have to repurchase the camera and go threw the process of waiting. 5 stars for the camera but asurion need to keep up with customers.
I've been a Sony and a Nikon DSLR shooter in the past. I also shoot Fuji mirrorless. I never seriously considered Canon because while I love their glass, I was already heavily invested in another system. As mirrorless became more and more available, I figured it was a good time to reevaluate since most systems have new lens mounts anyway. I'm glad I tried the Canon. It's everything I've wanted in an event camera system. Not too many megapixels which presents a file size problem when shooting all day weddings and mitzvahs. Autofocus that nails the shot nearly every time. A full selection of high-end professional glass, and a growing selection of cheaper, lighter mid-low end lenses. The R5 may have received all the press (both good and bad), but the R6 is my workhorse camera of choice.
Excellent camera. There are tons on reviews about this camera in YouTube and other websites so don't plan to review it as such but a few quick points in case you were wondering about purchasing this camera and here. A couple of features which led me to buy this over a R or even a RP and I found both these to be accurate. Performs exceptionally well in low light as advertised - Pictures captured in ISO 12800 are perfectly usable. In built image stabilization is excellent as well
I've been wanting to upgrade to a full frame camera from my Canon 50D for several years, but was waiting for just the right one. I almost bought the 5D Mark IV when that came out, but then I became interested in mirrorless and wanted to see what Canon came up with. I'm so glad I chose the R6
I primarily photograph portraits and it's been great for that. The auto focus system is excellent and it does a great job tracking moving toddlers. I also brought it to the zoo and got some amazing animal photos. The ISO range is incredible. I haven't used it for video yet, but I'm looking forward to trying it.
Upgraded to this from a Canon 7D MKII and am very glad that I did. The dynamic range is great, the autofocus is absolutely amazing, the IBIS is a game changer, it has an articulating screen, records 4K, I could go on and on. I've not yet run into overheating problems when shooting video at 4K30. Even better than all that is the fact that you can continue to use old EF and EF-S lenses with a fairly affordable adapter. I wish it was higher resolution like the R5, but realistically I don't do large prints of my photos often and if you don't either just go with this over the R5. Love the camera!
I bought the R6 from this seller and it was unfortunately damaged during shipping. I contacted them and they have offered to ship be a brand new R6 right away. It has been a great experience and I recommend them for anyone.
This was such a great upgrade for me. I shoot automotive racing, and this thing keeps up with race cars going well over 170mph. Love everything about it.
This is such a beast of a camera. The images are tack sharp and are incredibly clear. The kit lens is a great performer too ! I was expecting to need to buy a better lens by the one in the box is just great.
