It's was quite an investment but after being in the field with it. Well worth the cost for the images it produces. Coming from the Canon R... which is still a fine camera. I must say, having conditioned myself to use the finger slide to control various settings and the 4-way tap button, the "old school" joystick and rotating wheel is like having a MacBook Pro 2021 model and trading it in for a Mac SE — regarding the controls. The Canon R was fast with click of the Q button, tap the wheel to make your selection, click the center button. Canon R5, I click the Q button, the have to go up to the joystick to make select then back down to the OK button in the rotating wheel. Not as easy to do with your eye in the viewfinder. However the image quality trumps the little issues like those. The Canon R5 C was a considerable choice however it reverts back to no built in stabilization like the R. And I believe it lost the gimbal control to see if your camera is level or pointed more upward and downward. Both I can't live without.
The future of mirrorless cameras is here. Coming from a 5D Mark IV and other dslrs I was very used to using an OVF. But the R5’s EVF is large, bright, sharp and as a bonus, I don’t need to wear glasses with nearsighted vision when looking through the EVF
The R5 is a solid camera that justifies its price tag.
This camera handles everything you need
I shoot mostly wildlife and for me this camera has really upped my game. There are so many things I love about this camera. The complimentary 75-300mm lens is a great piece of kit for my needs
Been looking around and doing a ton of research on mirrorless cameras. Great reviews for a reason. Hands down worth the investment. Worth every penny on quality of camera, pictures and settings. Highly recommend this camera to anyone serious about becoming a semi-pro from amateur.
I've taken photos with an EOS R for the past 2 years, and this upgrade to the R-5 was better than I expected. I crop most photos, so the 45 MP with the R-5 comes in handy. AF is faster and there are more features for eye recognition including animal. The pictures have more resolution with the R-5, and even with the 1.6 Crop Factor, I still have a 17 MP foto. 6,000-10,000 ISO does not develope much noise, and EF lenses work well too along with the RF versions. With the IBIS and lens IS, I can use a 400 mm handheld telephoto lens with no camera shake. Cheers to Canon, they built a keeper.
I've owned a lot of Canon digital cameras... the T3i, 70D, 6D, 6DII, 5DIV, and two R's. This R5 is the best one yet. The 5D4 was good, but the fixed LCD always bothered me, and the raw buffer on the 5D4 was pitiful. The R was as good, if not better than the 5D4 in my opinion but the servo burst speed of 4-5 fps was sad. In comes the R5 with it's awesome eye-autofocus and 45 raw bursts and good Lord... it's exactly what I was hoping for. Throw in the 15 extra megapixels over the 5D4 and R and the fact that it can do 12fps and it's hard to beat.
The wife got this for her photography business. Even I can see the crisp, clean quality photos this camera takes
