Went from a T7i to the 90D. Love the ease of use, professional clarity and the opportunity to create my own settings! Glad I went this route! I’m a football photographer and the ISO is high!

The 90D works similar to the 70D it is replacing. Functions are faster, the screen is fabulous and controls are in similar locations. Photos taken in CR3 format are around 32 to 35 MB each. The Canon Digital Photo Professional MUST be version 4.10.50.1 in order to open the CR3 files. Photos saved from my 70d as CR2 files, when saved to JPG post editing, took 10 or so seconds to covert and save. It takes 30 seconds for the same action with the CR3 file. EACH FILE. That excess time is going to be an issue as I take high school football photos and if I have to post/convert/save 300+ shots each game.... well, time is time. I will experiment with just JPG shooting this week... but really like being able to adjust the photos as a RAW. Oh yes, the photos... day shots are fabulous. rapid and accurate focus. Face and eye detection work well. Night shots are coming this weekend.. Night football photos at the high school is better than the 70D, but I am VERY disappointed with the focusing. It is slow and inaccurate. I have used both of the "spot focus" points and find no difference in accuracy. My 70D was better at proper focus than the 90D is. I use a Canon 70-200 f2.8 lens. The photos that do focus correctly are better than the 70D. BUT, focus ability compared to the 70D is POOR.

I primarily bought this camera to upgrade to 4K video. The photo quality is fantastic and the upgrade to better quality video has been outstanding so far. The difference between 1080P on the canon 80D and 4K video on the 90D is night and day. 4K looks absolutely beautiful. And I have been running some tests on the Timelapse feature and it looks great so far. The battery life is so so, but that is to be expected for the rigors of 4K.

I cried while waiting for my 80D to arrive realizing the whole industry was moving towards mirrorless DSLRs... and there I was waiting for my 80D... after investing $10k in lenses. Full speed ahead, dam the torpedoes... I upgraded my 80D to this ground breaking 90D and have not looked back. I love the 32MB sensor, and its focus system, which required some time to get used to. I will hold on to my 90D for another couple of years before I migrate over to mirrorless to get the new outstanding "eye focus" in whatever new model will replace the R6. My wildlife photography is mostly about birds here in Costa Rica, and "eye focus" is ground breaking.

Love this product as an upgrade from my Rebel. Please note that it is a crop sensor camera so you will not always have that wide angle. It would cost a lot more for a full frame body. There is so much that you can do with this camera and Digital Photography classes have definitely helped me explore the possibilities!

Since the Canon Rebel and the T series I have moved progressively up to the 80d and finally the 90d. For the past five years I have had several high end 70-300 EF series lenses (dropping one). 95% of use is birding, the remainder sedentary cats. This is a genuine improvement over the 80d, both for perching birds and birds in flight. I do a limited number of adjustments, shooting always in P with a small central autofocus and with the 90 d using the so-called live view with sitting or perching birds. The change is quite remarkable though it took me a few days to get to live view by pressing the button to the upper right of the large view finder. The clarity of photos is bluntly remarkable.

If you're not ready to go mirrorless just yet, this is the DSLR I would recommend. You're not going to break the bank and what you get outshines anything I've seen in the Rebel series. I can shoot both 4k (Uncropped) at 24 or 30fps and FHD at 120fps.
