So far so great! Upgraded from a D7100 and WOW what a difference. Teamed it up with a Sigma 150-600mm and I like the results, even though I am still learning both.
I bought this to replace my d500. I love my old camera, but have not been able to find a new one so I assume it's being phased out. It's a shame it was a fantastic camera. In a better price point for me. I've had a chance to work with my d850 for a few weeks now, and I'm very impressed! I bought the extra grip in larger battery to increase my shutter speed. It's heavier than my other camera but that's proving to be a plus for me. I seem to have less in my photos with heavier gear. I've been shooting with a Nikon 500 PF lens in the combo of the two have been resulting in absolutely fantastic photos. I mainly shoot birds, and this setup seems to be working for me very well.
Wow, resolution to spare. I've been using a couple of D750s for a few years and decided to upgrade. I shoot mostly events and products. For the events, I go for expressions and action, and don't pay a lot of attention to exact cropping. I do that in post. With the 750's I had some headroom to work with, but sometimes I'd end up with grain due to enlarging too much. With the 850, with 45megapixels to play, I'm getting amazing resolution without losing anything. With the D750's, like most digital cameras, if you over exposed, you're hosed. While I try to underexpose slightly, with the 850, it seems more forgiving when exposing hot. Bringing up detail from the depths is also great. Overall, I probably use less that 5% of its built-in capabilities, but that 5% has take my images to a new level. My only gripe is the two different memory cards, CF and SD. I shoot duplicates in case of card failure. If the SD fails, I'll have to use an external card reader (my laptop has a SD reader built in). But, despite this, it's my new #1 body.
Love the tank!
I really love this camera! I have shot images around the house to get used to the controls and they look great. I hope Nikon does not stop making DSLR systems in the next 5 years? Not sure if I'm going to be a fan of mirrorless systems?
This is the perfect camera for someone just starting out professionally. It has a great dynamic range and your photos will be so crispy! Just know your lenses and how they act with their F stops. It has been left in my car on hot days and it has been used out in the winter when the wind chill is -13 the camera held up great! I would always recommend this camera it has been one of my favorite cameras!
I updated from from Nikon D810 is this is a major improvement. An excellent camera.
great upgrade from my t4i. More mega pixels on the sensor. Look forward to shooting around. Canon makes superior camera and lenses too
I just upgraded from my T7I t8I and am happy for the step up. It has the same basic features but the pictures and videos are much clearer with the new camera. I am very happy with my purchase and will continue to use my T8I for years to come.
