I'm not a professional, but I go for professional results. I've owned the Canon 1D Mk IV (H Sensor) and the 7D (APS-C Sensor) and the Canon 6D Mark II is my first full frame camera. I'm loving it. It's light, way lighter than the 5D Mark IV, and has all of the features I could ask for and more... like touch screen, articulated screen so you can shoot from expanded angles and see what you are getting in Live View.
There is too much to put in this review, you can find mountains of information online so I won't re-hash any of it here. I've pretty much discredited every negative review, they're all sour grapes IMHO. You'll be saving money and getting the full power of the full frame sensor plus a myriad of helpful features that will put you at the forefront of whatever anyone else is producing these days... just stay focused on being a good photographer, which is much more than what equipment you are using anyway. This camera gets all the stars and easily earns them all.
As a semi-professional photographer on a college student budget, I knew I couldn't stray from Canon when I needed to update my body from a REBEL T5, but I also didn't want to. I learned on a Canon and have been extremely satisfied with all their products so far, including the 6D.
The picture quality is great, but of course, this also depends on the lens you have mounted. Canon EF lenses work best with this body. The AF can be a tad slow, but really not bad. Additionally, the battery life is great.
As a photojournalist for a student newspaper, I'm photographing anything from sports and concerts to portraits of people and food, as well as general street photography. I also take this camera camping with me in Florida, aka lots of sand, humidity, and unexpected weather and it does great. Would 100% recommend!
I love my 6d mark ii. It worked flawlessly with my new 70-200 is ii at a comedy show I photographed recently. I shot with the 580ex speedlite, so I wasn't exactly testing low-light capabilities, but I was very impressed with the image quality and how quickly and accurately focus locked on. The zone af and large zone af modes worked great for selecting the exact area that I wanted focused for the portraits I was shooting.
I upgraded from the old Rebel T4i/650d, so perhaps I'm easily impressed, but I'm thrilled that I can now make use of my L lenses with the focal lengths they were intended for.
Purchased this after our 60d failed. I've always wanted to move up to the full frame body and the failure gave me the chance, Canon gave us a great discount so I purchased the body direct from them. I knew the pictures would be better but didn't realize just how much difference the full frame would make. Only down side was having to buy new lenses but,,,,, they are worth the upgrade too!
I’ve been involved with photography for years so I do have extensive knowledge relating to cameras & lenses. With that being said I find the Canon 6D Mark ll an incredible piece of equipment. With the ability to interchange lenses rapidly & the ergonomics of the body (big hands), it’s my go to camera!
