This is a great camera great product.
Yup, pretty awesome camera.
Sensational camera
Exceptional.
In my opinion if you are a photographer and have the MK2 or MK3 this camera is a no brainer upgrade. Sure it's not revolutionary, but it's increased responsiveness, dynamic range, and the many small behind the scenes features I think make it worth the upgrade.
I recently purchased the Mark IV as an upgrade to my MKII. I was well-pleased with the MKII over the years although I do agree that the auto focusing system was less than perfect. My initial reaction to the MARK IV was it's nice but not exactly a jaw-dropping. I purchased the camera with the 24-70MM lens as I already had the Canon 24-105 lens as well as the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM zoom lens. I read that the new Canon 24-105 lens while improved wasn't much sharper than the original 24-105 so I opted for the 24-70 F4 Canon since it was suppose to be sharper than the 24-105. I performed some (unscientific) tests between the 2 lenses on the Mark IV and found that the 24-70 lens was a bit sharper than the old 24-105 and also produced slightly better image contrast it was not a huge improvement. I did like the macro capability of the 24-70 lens. Though limited in range it is a nice-to-have feature. I would suggest the 24-105 lens for anyone looking for a walking-around lens for the Mark IV who doesn’t own any other lenses.
Spectacular piece of equipment! I have been using this camera for about 6 months now and am blown away from the overall build quality, usability, and incredible image quality! I have been shooting with 30D and L lenses for close to 10 years. The difference is night and day. Thanks to 5D Mark4, I fell in love with my lenses all over again and rediscovered each one of them! Primary use - landscapes, bird photography, portrait. Looking forward to doing some astrophotography!
I own a 7D Mark 1 and a 5D Mark II - Both still great cameras with a lot of use over the years - The 5D Mark IV is without a doubt, a superior upgrade. The quality feature list is longer then most people can properly detail. If you have an older camera, it is worth looking into the 5D Mark IV. Right off the bat. If you're a nature, bird, or sports photographer, you get access to all focus points at F8. So if you use an Extender - at F8 you're are not limited to a single Focus Point anymore. Focus is also faster. The touch screen is amazing. Once you start using it to preview pics - send pics to your phone/Tablet or other WiFi Device, you won't look at your old cameras the same way again. You can also remotely adjust settings, and take photos or video with your WiFi device. And yes, you can also toggle on GPS info.
Nikon, Sony, Fuji and company are putting out some phenomenal cameras (what a time to be a photographer!), but I think this is perhaps the best "all around" professional camera on the market. It's equally suited to portraits, weddings, landscapes, product, commerical, and street photography, as well as some wildlife and sports photography at all but the highest levels. It's a fantastic upgrade to the Mark III, which was already the most popular professional DSLR around. It addressed virtually everything I wanted to see improved over the Mark II and III, and added a few extras.
