This Sony Handycam HDRCX405 is was a great buy!
Now, despite having an iPhone at my disposal most always, I wanted a handheld camera that shot in HD and had a better zoom, better sound, more interface an removable memory card. This camera is certainly that.
I purchased another camera first and every video was orange. This camera costs more but it is worth it. I didn't realize it came with a camera bag. The accessories were fun to open and find just the right place to keep them in the bag. I had trouble figuring out how to delete the videos off the memory card while it was in the camera. Not a huge problem just take it out and put the card in the computer. No move unwanted video. I love the fact it makes .MTS files and MP4 file. I don't have to convert them before I upload them to YouTube. I am very satisfied with this camera.
I shopped for weeks looking for a Camcorder that I could dedicate to just recording video without using my phone... This is the result. It's a great camera for a great value. Set it up based on several recommendations from sites and other users... works great so far. Very happy with this camera. Word of advice for folks looking in to buying this, the memory card that comes with this is a fairly decent one, but do yourself a favor, and get several REALLY GOOD memory cards. This isn't like the old VHS days; Don't go cheap. Do your research, and get either a Sony, Samsung, SanDisk, etc, that can handle the suggested data rate for HD video in this operation. Class 10, with a 40 MB/S or better. Aside from setting your cameras settings, that's how you will truly get the most out of your video quality. Overall this camera is perfect for my family's needs and uses, especially this deal.
Verified Purchase I really like this camera. I couldn't afford a high dollar camera but I'm not missing the added features they would have. This is more than sufficient for my vlog. I don't do travel vlogs and for the outdoor activities I do, I have an action cam. The only complaints I have are with some of the accessories. Most are proving useful, but some don't have a lot of stamina. I ordered an LED light that is supposed to attach to the same tripod via a slide attachment but I don't feel that confident in the tripod for the weight. I can, however, use a separate tripod. I'd recommend this product particularly for family filming and even online videos like mine that are mainly indoors.
Good quality video with a I love the 50x zoom. Light compact and very easy to use. Doesn't have as many features as the high dollar camcorders but it shoots really good videos and is small enough to carry with you. Does everything I want and it was a good buy. Can't beat it at this price.
For the most part, this camera is easy to use and I can record longer videos at a time as compared to my iPhone. The purpose of buying the camera is for my son's sporting events and I have to say the camera serves that purpose. The bundle came with a lot of accessories and an extra battery. The only thing I wish is that the screen was a touch screen and had a mic attachment. Please note the recording volume is suitable for the purpose. The camera just does not have as many modern features as other brands but is good quality overall.
I replaced an 8-year old Sony Handycam with this one and I was surprised how light this camera is. Quiet too. I would go with at least a 64 GB memory card as the HD videos (which are great quality) do take up a lot of space. You need to delete files through the camera's viewscreen menu....my old camera allowed me to do that through my PC when connected. Works well for me in marginal light but does not have a light of its own. I love the way Sony placed the USB connector and tucked it into the hand strap.
This was a gift for my 13 year old grandson, who loves to take pictures and "make movies." He was thrilled with it and has not stopped using it! I don't know a lot about it except that. I really liked the package; that everything is included. He kept opening each pack and got more and more excited.
