I'm a train enthusiast and bought a FDR-AX33 a while back but this is waaaay better it's more wide angle, The zoom is really sharp and crisp n' clear, The audio is fantastic, and is light weight. If you're looking into getting your 1st 4K Camcorder this would be the best buy.

I've been hemming and hawing about making the move to 4K. All those hours spent on YouTube paid off. There was never a question of not going with Sony. The questions was WHICH camcorder would do the trick. A side-by-side-by-side comparison of three different Sony 4K camcorders made this model the one. The bigger sensor and the BOSS stabilization sealed the deal. No more shaky telephoto shots, no more tripods or steadicams needed. There are enough options and manual overrides to keep me happy. The image quality is astonishing and yes, I bought a 4K Ultra HD television to go with it. I sank some serious money into this and am relieved at the result. I film a lot of outdoor footage and buying this camcorder puts me ahead of anyone shooting 1920x1080p. There's a bit of a learning curve, but that always comes with buying any electronic item with bells and whistles. Still, I was shooting 4K within a few hours of unboxing and going over the manual.

Bought this for trip to new Museum Of The American Revolution in Philadelphia and other sites. Also 4th of July fireworks on Washington Mall etc. Mt. Vernon and Monticello. Walking video was great! Screen grabs were as good as my Nikon DSLR. Still photos steady and sharp.

Used it to shoot a soccer game standing on a step stool. Worked perfectly. Shot at 1080p at 60FPS to maximize steady shot and allow for good slow motion replays. If you can hold the camera reasonably steady you can do the same. Got lots of complements on quality of video. Used eyepiece not LCD screen. Edited it in iMovie on OSX without a problem. Fun to add slow mo replays. The camera perfectly met my expectations. External ring is good for controlling Zoom. Batteries lasted a good long time. No complaints. I really bought the camera with my own money and really was completely satisfied with it. I don't write many reviews, but I spent a lot of time researching camcorders and was not sure if this was the right one. It totally was. If you want to use it for my purpose it is a good choice. I can't speak to shooting in 4K or anything else because I have not done that yet. But it did very well the one thing I needed it to do!

I bought this camera for my trip to Africa. It was so great to have a camera which has great stabilization. It was easy to follow a charging elephant without showing my shakiness. Also does wonderful photos and I won first place in county fair on pictures taken with this camera. I love that it takes pictures in the dark.

This camcorder is amazing, the floating lens is a game- changer for people who shoot without a tripod.I use this also to stream video because it provides a nice smooth feed, I would highly recommend this to everyone.
